Note: This is a written-prompt introduction of SpruceClan that demonstrates its territory and personality. It doesn't have to be a direct reflection of your OCs, though you're welcome to imagine! You have been wandering for stars knows how long. Your travels have taken you through rich meadows, luscious deciduous woodlands, and countless marshes and rivers. You've passed and even joined some stray clans or groups of rogues, having at the time needed shelter, food, or even company. But you never stayed long- there was always something that made you leave or turn away, a longing you couldn't explain. Interestingly this time, your travels have you lead you somewhere new - a forest that seemed made up entirely of coniferous trees, though if you looked hard enough you did spot the occasional oak or birch. As you walked further, you notice it had begun to rain, yet thickly branched spruce and other such trees seem to shelter you from the worst of it, with only the occasional drop or two landing on your coat to shiver away as you continued on. The air now smelled of cool rainfall and freshly misted evergreen, it was refreshing and the wet leaves and needles that covered the forest floor soothed your aching paws. You were beginning to contemplate doing a bit of hunting to fill your growling belly before suddenly, you hear a rustle of shrubbery and a voice booming: "HEY YOU! STOP WHERE YOU ARE!" There was no time to react as you took a startled step forward, and your paws slip from beneath you - you tumble down, down, down a hill, scraping up needles and twigs and pebbles - and then everything goes black. When you wake, the air is fuzzy and thickly scented of other cats and bitter plants. Everything is groggy and you can't tell how long you've been out or where you are. There are multiple voices fading in and out surrounding you, and you can't pick up any of them until one begins to stand out. "Ah here they come, the cat of the hour! Everyone, everyone hush down! They're waking up..." When your focus finally comes-to, you are surprised to find yourself comfortably tucked in a nest of moss and feathers. The rain has stopped - no actually - it's still raining heavily, and you are sheltered - in a den of ivy covered boulders with various green plants and fresh herbs. You notice multiple cats in the den watching you with wide, curious eyes, and something else... pity? Sympathy? Worry? You turn to face the voice that had woken you, and see a pretty tortoiseshell she-cat who's layed beside you to meet your eye-level. Her gaze is warm with concern and the color of a sunny-sky. "Well hello, finally. You took quite the tumble back there, you've been out for a while. I've brought you back to my camp where our medicine cat can look after you." Oh, you realize. So you were in clan territory. It must have been difficult to catch any scent markers from the rain, and you explain this to the she-cat speaking to you - as well as ask why she was about to attack you, yet still bring you to her camp for treatment. "Attack you? Heh, you wish! Would've been better than those fall damages. Oh but no, I knew you were in our forest and I was watching you to report to my clan - but you were about to step off that drop, and I had to warn you. Too bad you fell anyway!" She mrrows with a chuckle, nudging your aching shoulder. You were just about to ask when you will be well enough to leave before suddenly another cat set down a mouse in front of you. You had forgotten how hungry you were... the she-cat continues to speak. "We understand you may be eager to leave and pick up where you left...but you were an intruder on SpruceClan territory. So allow us to treat you like a guest instead. Eat, and when you're ready, I will take you to Thunderstar. There will be more details to discuss." The tortoiseshell leaves, flicking her tail and gesturing for all the other cats to follow and leave you be. Finally alone, you eat- the mouse is warm and meaty, the plumpest you've had in a while. Perhaps its all those seeds and berries from the coniferous trees. When you finish the mouse off, you find that most of scrapes on your legs and shoulders are already feeling better, and you go to follow a guard who was waiting for you outside. As you look around - what did they call themselves, SpruceClan?-'s camp, you immediately feel gated and secure from the overhanging shelter of spruce trees, and surrounding walls and dens of tall shrubs and ivy covered boulders. The cats seem friendly or curious about your presence, and they all seem to be included and enjoying themselves with whatever busy-work or group-play was going on. There weren't a lot of them, either - which made the camp feel less overwhelming and cluttered. Finally you arrive at the leader's den, and a guard is dismissed as you're welcomed in. A ginger-tabby and white tomcat was sitting patiently, the tortoiseshell she-cat next to him with a grin. He studies you for a moment, his eyes the color of a midnight sky, smiling and gesturing you to sit. "So you're the new guest my deputy was telling me about. A pleasure! My name is Thunderstar, leader of SpruceClan, and with me is my deputy, Pumpkinclaw. We've just finished discussing your terms of stay...oh, did you think you would be a guest here for free? As my deputy explained, you were an intruder before the fall incident, it's only by our choice you're not treated like one. You will be welcome to stay for as long as it takes your wounds to heal and your body to rest, but if you're here any longer afterward you must work like any other warrior...or if you truly like it here, you can decide to join SpruceClan, and you would be welcome. Does this sound like a deal?" Something stirs inside you from the idea of joining such a clan. The atmosphere of the camp is warm and well managed, the territory is comfortable and safe and plenty...when was the last time you've felt this...at home? But there would be plenty of time to make a choice, you don't feel pressured. You agree to stay as a guest and a visitor, and maybe, just maybe...something more down the road. That something you've been longing for. Thunderstar and Pumpkinclaw smile at eachother, and the next thing you know, a clan meeting is held to announce your temporary stay. Pumpkinclaw asks you for your name, and the clan chants it loud and heartfelt for all the forest to hear and welcome you. The meeting finishes off with Thunderstar roaring a final chant that the rest of the clan echos in unity, and you've never felt so part of a family. "Stand Tall! Shelter The Weak! Weather The Storm!" |

Once the current leader dies, retires, or in rare circumstances is exiled by the clan itself, it is a deputy's duty to take over as the next leader. |

Click Me Essentially the clan's doctor, they contain a vast knowledge of herbal remedies, physiology, and psychology to diagnose, treat, or assist those with an injury or illness. Occasionally they may play the role of spiritual leader, as medicine cats share a unique bond with StarClan that enables them to receive and interpret visions, omens, or prophecies. |

They're passed down all of what a medicine cat should know for if or when the current medicine cat retires, passes away, or in rare circumstances is exiled. Until then, even when they've earned their full name, they will remain as the medicine cat's apprentice and personal assistant. |

Click Me A cat whom is expecting or nursing kits. They may return to their original rank when the kits have weaned, or until they've moved out of the nursery upon reaching apprenticehood. Cats may choose to remain a queen permanently, and so will take on tasks similar to a midwife or nursemaid. |

They are often sought from the high ranks for their experience and advice, and will act as a story-teller to young kits and apprentices to pass on their clan's history and morals. |

| Allies - Other clans or groups of cats who neighbor SpruceClan territory. They are contacted in times of dire need and in return are allowed to require for us. If a good relationship is formed, allies are often visited in gatherings or special events.
Enemies - other clans, groups, or exiled cats who have done harm to SpruceClan and/or threaten their borders. Battles/skirmishes may ensue if the relationship is past cautious and the livelihood of the clan is at stake.
